The Marquette Engineering program is design-focused and laboratory intensive. Many classroom and laboratory assignments are multidisciplinary and project-based. The Discovery Learning Laboratory provides a fully equipped, on-site machine shop for design and production of prototypes, test fixtures or complex objects. It is a place where students explore the practical aspects of engineering.
Through the generosity of the Kern Family Foundation, the College of Engineering received a grant to create a new platform for discovery learning in engineering education.
The DLC Laboratory provides space, equipment, and resources to explore basic engineering principles and practices.
Students must have training prior to using the shop machine tools. Hand tools are also available for minor work.
All project hardware for projects funded by the College of Engineering becomes the property of the DLC Lab at the end of the project.
The DLC Lab gives students a unique opportunity to discover engineering by conducting their own projects.
