Review the GLBC's 30 year history

The Great Lakes Biomedical Conference will be held at the Golden Rondelle Theatre in Racine, WI. The theme of this year's conference is Innovation Engineering, and there will be a range of related discussions, including a poster session and prizes as well as cutting edge talks.

The Speakers and Topics at GLBC 2007 include:

Exploring Patent Protection: A Discussion of Business Rationales for Pursuing Patent Coverage on Innovations by Jonathan M. Fritz, J.D., M.S,. B.S.
 
Depending upon a business' goals, a patent can add a variety of value for a company or inventor.  What business value can a patent provide? How are patents used in different business models?  How can a patent provide protection for your innovations? These are a few of the questions that will be explored.


Operating Systems for Innovation:  What Roles do they Play in Technology Management and How Do They Increase the Value of Intellectual Assets?, by Zion Bar-El and Valery Prushinsky

Business Plans for Technology Spinouts – Telling the Story Through Pictures, Numbers and Words by Brian Thompson

Technology transfer, or moving scientific discovery from the university setting to the commercial setting, is full of challenges.  University-based spinout companies face particular challenges in conveying their message. 

Knowledge-Enabled Innovation: The Integration of Inventive Problem Solving with Semantic Concept Retrieval by Stephen Brown

When proven methodologies for problem analysis, system functional analysis and creative thinking are combined and supported by the on-demand extraction of precisely relevant concepts from internal and worldwide knowledge sources, the resulting synergy enables greater acceleration, efficiency and repeatability in product and process innovation. Call for Posters:  Posters describing original research or new applications in the areas of biomedical sensors, biomedical engineering and related fields.
