Scott Goldsborough is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Marquette University. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University and a B.S. degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. His research interests include internal combustion engine phenomena (combustion, two-stroke scavenging, etc.), combustion chemistry, chemical kinetics, pollutant formation and control, environmental & sustainability issues, alternative / bio-based fuels, linear alternator / free piston technologies, reacting flow simulation, packed bed dynamics, flow visualization, scientific / high performance computing. He has been funded by the National Science Foundation, Sandia National Laboratories, the Southeast Wisconsin Energy Technology Research Center, and Energy Transition Technology, Inc. Professor Goldsborough teaches courses in internal combustion engines, combustion fundamentals, introductory and advanced thermodynamics, and introductory heat transfer. He was previously on the staff at Sandia National Laboratories, California and is a member of Tau Beta Pi, SAE, The Combustion Institute, ACS, ASME, and SIAM. He is a recipient of the Society of Automotive Engineers' Harry L. Horning Memorial Award for his contributions to research in HCCI combustion, and SAE's Ralph R.
