• The Treadmill Laboratory is directed by Dr. Allison Hyngstrom in the Department of Physical Therapy. The highlight of this laboratory is the split-belt, instrumented treadmill (Bertec), which is built so that the speed of each belt can be individually controlled with force plates built into each tread allowing continuous measurement of ground reaction forces. The treadmill laboratory is also complete with a six camera Vicon motion capture system and capabilities to record up to 16 channels of electromyography (EMG). Additionally, a projector system has been installed to allow projection of targets onto the treadmill and a monitor placed at eye level to allow for various visual feedback or other mental tasks during walking. Please take some time to read about current projects in our treadmill laboratory.
