Original Mission of this Web-Based Resource:
This is a working Workshop, aimed toward envisioning future possibilities for enabling (hopefully all) Americans to live healthier, higher-quality lives where more and more health products and services are embedded within or delivered to a "home" setting (where home is where the heart is). Many of you have asked how you prepare for your participation. Here's a start.
For each topic we are to understand the present, conceptualize a desirable future, develop roadmaps toward this future, and identify key gaps in knowledge and barriers to be overcome. We are also to consider tough issues such as resource allocation, and what constitutes higher quality of life (and an appropriate human-centered use of technology). A wide range of talents and experiences are being brought to the table, and we hope to tap into this collective capability. We also recognize that as busy professionals, there are likely areas where your knowledge is limited. The overriding purpose of this Web page is to serve as a resource that provides basic information outside your area of expertise, and well as help you see a larger picture.
