
SIG-21 is a diverse group of approximately 50 RESNA members with varied backgrounds and jobs who share a common interest in telerehabilitation. Our members include: rehabilitation engineers, assistive technologists, rehabilitation physicians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, educators, telehealth and disability policy specialists, as well as consumers with disabilities.
to promote and support development, evaluation, and application of telecommunication and multi-media technologies that help break down the barrier of distance in the provision of services and exchange of information as related to the field of rehabilitation, i.e. telerehabilitation;
to provide a forum where its members can exchange ideas and experiences related to all aspects of telerehabilitation;
to foster mentorships and affiliations, including collaborative research activities;
to encourage and support any efforts within RESNA's Technical Guidelines Committee in the area of professional telerehabilitation standards;
to provide a platform from which to advocate and educate for a variety of application and service models using telerehabilitation by providers and consumers; and
to provide a unified voice for telerehabilitation in settings where telehealth, healthcare reimbursement, professional licensure, technology accessibility and other topics critical to the success of telerehabilitation are under discussion.
