Solar Powered Water Pumping System
Santa Apolonia is an orphanage home to 76 children. A solar powered water system was installed for both the clear and gray warer systems to help reduce electricity costs and create a reliable water system for the orphanage.Solar Powered Water Pumping System
Casa Nueva is a drug rehabilitation center. The center is in the mountains near a city. They provide in and out care services. At the center they have a man made well with an electrical pump which is unreliable and expensive to run. We are going to install a solar powered water pump to alleviate the costs and to create liable system to pump water.Solar Powered Water Pumping System
La Garrucha is a small town of about 180 homes in the department of Chimaltenango, northwest of Guatemala city. Their current water supply, a small spring, within the community is running dry and is contanimated with runoff. Students are working with the village and have found 2 potential sources of water.Hydroelectric Water Wheel Project
A water wheel once used for coffee finca machinery still exists today and is currently used to run a water pump. This project will a nearby spring and turbine to generate power that will then be routed to each home to provide power for lighting and small appliances.CAD project
The EWB-Marquette CAD Committe works to create stadardized drawings for our parnter communities through PAVA ('Progama de Ayuda a los Vecinos del Altiplano' or Aid program for Highland Communitites' in English). Hand drawings and pictures are sent to the committe with general dimensions and written descriptions.
