     Abstract:

A portable artifact preservation apparatus for transporting
and temporarily storing organic archaeological artifacts is
presented. The Climate Regulated Artifact Box (C.R.A.B.) contains a
climate-controlled chamber, forming a base square structure. The
apparatus incorporates a highly efficient thermal regulation and
humidity and oxygen control mechanism. The apparatus is powered by a
rechargeable battery. The climate-controlled chamber is configured
with an internal partitioning system, having up to 4 removable
barriers/dividers. The configuration of these dividers is based
primarily on the size of the specified artifact. The external housing
of the chamber features a stackable interface mechanism, dimensioned
to suit a secondary non-climate-controlled storage unit, for inorganic
or insensitive artifacts. This secondary preservation chamber is known
as the Artifact Resting Kit (A.R.K.).
