  • Javier Millan with Kenig, Lindgren, O'Hara, Aboona, Inc. (KLOA) in Rosemont, Illinois is looking for students interested in Transportation.
  • Jerremy Foss, with Manhard Consulting Ltd in Vernon Hills, Illinois. involved in private commercial and residential design and in municipal work. The company has an environmental department, a stormwater management department, a commercial & residential design department, a survey department, and a small transportation department that is beginning to grow. The company has two offices in the Chicago area and one in Denver and plans to expand to three other cities in the next year.

The ASCE Student Chapter 2003 ASCE participated in the Great Lakes Regional Conference competition in Evansville, IN.

Students traveling to the competition included David Bachhuber, Kevin Clinard, Chris Erwin, Melissa Flynn, Rob Merkel, Jeff Pietryga, John Peronto, Brian Porter, Marty Sampson, Melissa Unhock, and Jessica Wenzel.

Earned the following take-home awards:

  • 3rd Place - Balsa Wood Bridge
  • 2nd Place - Concrete Baseball Bat
  • 1st Place - Geotechnical Competition
  • Certificate of Recognition for The Eville-Slugger Award and ACES Bobble Head for the Concrete baseball Bat
  • The steel bridge earned numerous second place finishes but only 1st place finishers received awards
  • 3rd Place Overall Trophy

Structural presentation by Merle Brander, P.E.  Structural elements involved in the collapse of the two towers on 9-11-01.  Merle Brander is a structural engineer.  He graduated from Michigan Tech and then founded Brander Construction Technologies Inc. in Green Bay Wisconsin in 1981.  This company specializes in structural engineering services, structural tests and inspections, roofing and wall systems, forensic engineering and safety quality production.
